Radboud umc Nijmegen
The Department of Radiotherapy at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre wants to be one of the best departments in the Netherlands and in Europe regarding patient care, research and training.
The department is a leading center in the field of head and neck oncology and has a large experience with alternate fraction schedules and hypoxic modifications to radiotherapie known as ARCON (Accelerated Radiotherapy plus Carbogen and Nicotinamide).
They regularly measure the satisfaction of their clients and patients, examine their training performance and frequently assess their scientific research in order to evaluate whether they succeed in their approach.
At the Department of Radiotherapy, the patient is in the key position and they aim to deliver the highest achievable quality
Apart from direct patient care, the focus is on preclinical, translational and clinical scientific research and on education and training.
The clinic hosts almost all modern techniques of irradiation, i.e., intra- and extra-cranial stereotactic radiotherapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) as well as volume modulated arc therapy (VMAT).
The department operates with 7 linear accelerators (five of them are equipped with state-of-the-art Elekta Agility) at three hospital locations (MZB, CWZ, Radboudumc), a CT simulator and brachytherapy equipment.
They treat about 2100 patients on 2600 tumor sites per year.
