At ESTRO 2026 in Stockholm, Strahlenzentrum Hamburg presented exciting clinical results on the preparation and introduction of a gantry-mounted in-vivo dosimetry chamber for patient treatment using the IQM system.

The study demonstrated that implementation of IQM during patient treatment enables real-time dose verification without compromising treatment workflow or prescription accuracy. In addition, the approach can eliminate the need for a dedicated QA fraction — significantly reducing overall QA workload while allowing more focus on complex and stereotactic treatments.

Cross-validation of VMAT plans achieved γ passing rates above 98% after applying the tray factor correction, confirming excellent agreement between treatment plans with and without IQM.
The work highlights another important step toward more efficient, workflow-integrated quality assurance directly during treatment delivery.
We would like to sincerely thank the team at Strahlenzentrum Hamburg for presenting this important work and for their continued collaboration and clinical leadership in advancing patient safety and treatment quality in radiotherapy.
