Medical Physicists at Allegheny Health Network (AHN) compared the Sun Nuclear SRS MapCheck and the IQM System for quality assurance of single isocenter (Iso) multiple metastases (Mets) SRS and SRT plans.
The team created Single Iso Multiple Mets plans with multiple arcs in a Brainlab Multiple Mets Elements (MME) TPS and verified them with both QA systems.
A single iso seven mets plan created with Brainlab MME
The SRS MapCheck gave accurate and reliable results for Single Iso Multiple Met Plan QA. However, due to its limited measurement size, the SRS MapCheck must be moved to the measurement center of each Met and plan delivery must be repeated for each Met, which is a time-consuming process.

The IQM system gave results with similar accuracy and reliability in one tenth the time required by the SRS MapCheck. This efficiency is due to the IQM´s detector design – the large detector area includes the entire field – and to its automated workflow.
As the AHN poster concluded:
“There was a good agreement between the QA results on both systems.”
